Dr Thillainayagam Muthukumar

Consultant Radiologist

Dr. Thillainayagam Muthukumar is a Consultant Radiologist.  His medical training were at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sewagram, India; Christian Medical College & Hospital, Vellore, India; and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Scotland. He also completed a one-year MSK radiology fellowship at the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry.

Biography

Dr. Muthukumar was appointed as Consultant Radiologist at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Institute of Orthopaedics, UCL in March 2005. He is a core member of the clinical teams specialising in bone and soft tissue sarcoma, complex spine and neurospine, joint surgery and reconstruction, and rheumatology. His key skills are in MDT decision-making and complex musculoskeletal and spine interventions.

Dr. Muthukumar has numerous publications and presentations; and is an invited speaker at conferences.

As a qualified Sports Medicine physician, he uses his diagnostic and interventional imaging expertise in management of sports and musculoskeletal injuries. He is a radiologist for India cricket team.

Dr. Muthukumar is former clinical director of radiology and imaging at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. Through his roles as an educational supervisor for radiology trainees in the London Deanery, and an elected member of the Faculty Board at the Royal College of Radiologists, he is actively shaping the future of radiology. He is past Treasurer of the British Society of Skeletal Radiologists and is member of various national and international societies, including International Skeletal Society.

His global impact extends through executive membership in the British Indian Skeletal Society; an honorary visiting Professorship in Chennai, India; and faculty roles in India at Sri Sathya Superspeciality Hospitals (SSSIHMS), Whitefield, and Puttaparthi.

His zen is in adventure motorcycle touring.
