Professor Richard Keen

Professor Richard Keen is a renowned Consultant Rheumatologist with expertise in managing osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases. He provides patient-centred care ensuring his patient’s needs are met.
Biography
Professor Keen graduated from St Mary’s Hospital, London. He pursued general medical training in London and Sheffield before focusing on rheumatology. During his time as a research fellow at St. Thomas’ Hospital, he studied the genetic regulation of postmenopausal osteoporosis, earning Young Investigator awards from the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research and the European Calcified Tissue Society.
Professor Keen is the Director of the Metabolic Bone Disease Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He cares for patients with a wide range of medical conditions including osteoporosis, Paget’s disease, fibrous dysplasia, osteogenesis imperfecta, X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets, fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, and hypophosphatasia.
Professor Keen is Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Brittle Bone Society. He is also a member of NHS England’s Specialised Rheumatology Clinical Reference Group. He presents at a range of national and international meetings and is widely published.
