Professor John Skinner

Professor John Skinner is a Private Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, UK. Specialising in joint assessment, Professor Skinner’s practise caters for primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery.

Professor Skinner serves as the Director of Research & Development at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, and has authored over 300 scientific papers. He is a former President of the British Orthopaedic Association and recently completed a term on the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, where he chaired the Future Surgeons Forum.

Professor Skinner has several advisory roles in addition to his clinical practise, serving as President of the British Hip Society and is an active member of the International Hip Society. As a part of his broader professional involvement, Professor Skinner contributes his expertise to the NHS England Knee Revision Steering Group and previously advised the NICE guideline committee on primary joint replacement surgery.

Professor Skinner sits on the Editorial Board of the Bone and Joint Journal and regularly reviews academic papers for several international journals.

Education

Professor Skinner qualified at King’s College Hospital School of Medicine in 1988, training in Norwich and London.
