Biography
Mr Julian Leong’s practice involves all aspects of spinal problems with adults and children and young people. He undertook training nationally and internationally at: Oxford University, Royal Free and University College Medical School, Hammersmith Basic Surgical Training rotation and UCH/Middlesex Rotation and completed fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Norman Capener Fellowship) and Hokkaido University (Sapporo, Japan). Mr Leong speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Approach
Given the complexity of spinal treatments and procedures Mr Leong performs, he ensures he effectively explains his recommendations to patients and that they fully understand to make informed decisions about their care. He brings together other healthcare professionals to plan his patient’s treatment and recovery.
Clinical Roles and Education
Mr Leong is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at University College London. His research interest are in Surgical Technology, Medical Robotics and Surgical Skills Training and Assessment. He completed his PhD thesis in ‘Hand-eye coordination in Surgery’ at Imperial College London supervised by Professor Ara Darzi, Professor Guang-Zhong Yang, and Prof Roger Emery.
