Mr Tanvir Khan
Mr Tanvir Khan is a highly experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, with a specialist focus on knee surgery. His clinical practice covers the full spectrum of knee conditions, including complex and tertiary referral cases, ensuring patients receive expert care tailored to their needs.
Education and Training
Mr Khan graduated from King’s College London School of Medicine, earning both his medical degree and an intercalated BSc(Hons) in Anatomy. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training in Nottingham through a prestigious NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship. During this time, he was awarded a competitive PhD research fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons and the National Joint Registry, leading to a doctorate in joint replacement outcomes from the University of Nottingham.
He has undertaken advanced fellowship training in knee surgery at two internationally recognised centres: the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and Imperial College Healthcare in London. Prior to joining RNOH, Mr Khan held substantive consultant roles at Oxford University Hospitals and Northampton General Hospital.
Research
A published researcher and educator, Mr Khan has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and has presented at over 30 international conferences. He serves as a peer reviewer for leading journals including the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (American) and BMJ Open. Passionate about training the next generation of surgeons, he has led registrar and post-CCT fellow education programmes and regularly teaches on postgraduate orthopaedic courses.
