Video Consultations for your outpatient appointment
RNOH Private Care is delighted to announce that we are now offering video consultations for outpatient appointments.
About Virtual consultations
What is a virtual consultation?
A virtual consultation is a video or telephone appointment, which allows you to speak to a consultant without the need to travel to the hospital. You’ll have fast access to our specialists and have the opportunity to discuss your health concerns at your own convenience.
Why book a virtual consultation
In our effort to reduce infections and to help our patients who may be vulnerable/shielding/unable to travel we are now offering virtual appointments by video and telephone with our orthopaedic consultants in addition to our usual face to face (outpatients) consultations.
There are many reasons to book a virtual consultation -
- Convenient and timely
- Cost effective
- No need to travel
- Increase safety from potential infection
- Comfort of your own home
- A family member, close friend or carer can attend with you for support
- Quicker consultation
- Reduce the stress/phobia of meeting a consultant face to face
- Environmentally friendly/reduce carbon footprint
- Save money

What do I need to make a video call?
- A good connection to the internet. If you can watch a video online (e.g. YouTube) you can make a video call
- A private, well-lit area where you will not be disturbed during the consultation
- One of these:
Google Chrome web browser on a desktop or laptop, or on an Android tablet or smartphone
Safari web browser on an Apple iMac, MacBook, iPad, or iPhone - Web-camera, speakers and microphone already built into laptops or mobile devices
Is it secure?
Video calls are secure; your privacy is protected. You have your own private video room that only authorised clinicians can enter.
How much internet data will I use?
You don’t use any data while waiting for a clinician to join you. An Attend Anywhere video call uses a similar amount of data to Skype® or FaceTime®.
How much does a video call cost?
The video call is free (except for your internet usage).

Smartphone and tablet users
If you can, connect to a home or work Wi-Fi network to avoid using your mobile data allowance.
