Dr Benjamin Jacobs is a Consultant Paediatrician. He has extensive knowledge and experience, and has been treating children and young people (aged 18 or under) for over 35 years.

Dr Jacobs mainly treats bone diseases ranging from common disorders such as Vitamin D Deficiency and ‘growing pains’, to rare and genetic bone diseases such as osteogenesis, rickets, Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO) and “ABC” (Aneurysmal Bone Cyst).

Biography

Dr Jacobs helped establish the paediatric metabolic bone service at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, where he continues to work closely with other specialists including rheumatologists, radiologists, anaesthetists and orthopaedic surgeons to provide a holistic care for patients. Dr Jacobs takes time to listen, and fully explain treatments and procedures to his young patients and their families.

He has run national training for the treatment and prevention of Vitamin D Deficiency in childhood and wrote the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health guidelines. He has one of the largest clinics for patients with CRMO in the UK.

Dr Jacobs has worked and trained nationally and internationally. This includes qualifying and training Middlesex Hospital Medical School (University of London), University College London Hospitals, Northwick Park and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Following this he completed a 4 year Honory Senior Registrar – Lecturer in Child Health post at the University of Manchester and a 3 year fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Canada, obtaining an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology.
